Scope

This part of GB/T 2679 specifies the method of determining the ring compression strength of paper and paperboard using a compression tester.
This part is applicable to the testing of the ring compression strength of paper and paperboard with a thickness range of 0.10 mm to 0.58 mm. For samples with a thickness less than 0.28 mm, the test results are the combined effect of instability failure and pure compression.
Note: This part can also be used for the testing of the ring compression strength of paper and paperboard with a thickness greater than 0.58 mm. In this case, when the sample is bent into a ring, the internal stress may increase, resulting in inaccurate test results. In this case, it should be noted in the test report that the sample thickness exceeds the applicable range of this part.
