Scope

This part of GB/T 16578 specifies the method for determining the tearing properties of films and sheets with a thickness of less than 1 mm using standard trouser-shaped specimens. The test should be conducted under specified conditioning and test speeds. This part is applicable to soft and hard materials in the form of films and sheets. During the test, the materials should not exhibit brittle failure, and the energy consumed by the deformation of the two trouser legs caused by the irreversible deformation of the materials should not affect the energy consumed by the tearing process. This part is not applicable to the determination of the tearing properties of foam sheets and foam films.
