Scope

This document describes a method for determining the mechanical, electrical, thermal, and other properties of thermoset molding compounds under certain high-temperature conditions. This method is used to determine the relative performance temperature (RPT) of thermoset molding compounds. RPT is necessary for describing the short-term performance of materials at high temperatures. Combined with long-term performance evaluations of polymer materials, RPT allows designers and engineers to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the expected performance of materials used at high temperatures.
This document is applicable to thermoset molding compounds.
