Scope

This standard specifies the equipment, gas supply, samples, test process, calculation of mass change, analysis of mass change, evaluation of samples after the test, and test reports for isothermal exposure oxidation tests of metal materials under high-temperature corrosion conditions.
This standard is applicable to isothermal exposure tests of metal materials under high-temperature corrosion conditions with gas (continuous testing during which the samples are not cooled and the mass of the samples is only weighed after the test) and discontinuous testing (during which the samples are cooled at predetermined but not necessarily regular intervals and the mass of each sample is weighed sequentially).
This standard is not applicable to thermal cycling oxidation tests of metal materials under high-temperature corrosion conditions with gas (in which the samples are frequently and regularly cooled to accelerate high-temperature corrosion and the mass of each sample is weighed sequentially).
