GB/T 6115.1-2026 Series capacitors for power systems—Part 1:General

Scope

This document specifies the performance, testing, specifications, safety requirements, and installation and operation guidelines for series capacitors used in power systems.
This document applies to capacitor units and capacitor groups intended for series connection in AC power systems with a frequency of 15 Hz to 60 Hz, becoming an integral part of the transmission or distribution lines.
This document is primarily applicable to transmission systems.
Series capacitor units and capacitor groups are typically used in high-voltage power systems. This document is applicable to the entire voltage range.
This document does not apply to self-healing metallized dielectric type capacitors.
The following capacitors are not applicable to this document, even if they are connected in series with the circuit: —— Capacitors for induction heating devices (see GB/T 3984.1); —— Capacitors for AC motors and similar applications (see GB/T 3667 (all parts)); —— Power electronic capacitors (see GB/T 17702); —— Capacitors for tubular fluorescent lamps and other discharge lamps (see GB/T 18489 and GB/T 18504).
Note 1: Additional requirements for capacitors with internal fuse protection and requirements for internal fuses are specified in GB/T 6115.3-XXXX and Appendix C.
Note 2: Additional requirements for capacitors protected by external fuses and requirements for external fuses are specified in Appendix A and Appendix C.
Note 3: Requirements for accessories of series capacitor devices (spark gaps, non-linear resistors, discharge reactors, current limiting damping reactors, damping resistors, circuit breakers, etc.) are specified in GB/T 6115.2–2017.
Note 4: Information on capacitor units and capacitor groups without fuses is specified in Appendix C.
Other related accessories, such as insulators, switches, transformers, and external fuses, are specified in relevant standards.
