Scope
This document provides general guidelines for preparing metal, metal-ceramic, oxide ceramic, and plastic coatings on metal and non-metallic substrates using thermal spraying. It includes recommendations for suitable and feasible thermal spraying equipment, proper operation, monitoring, quality assurance, and non-destructive or destructive testing of samples or workpieces. It also describes potential problems that may arise during the thermal spraying process and methods to avoid them. This document is applicable to various conventional thermal spraying applications. However, it does not apply to the evaluation of permissible coating loads and quality grades, which are related to the application conditions.
