Scope
This standard specifies the categories, general requirements, quality assessment rules, test methods, and required documents for Class 1E cables used in nuclear power stations. This standard applies to Class 1E cables and wires used in nuclear power stations, as well as cables and wires within Class 1E equipment in nuclear power stations. Class 1E cables used in nuclear power stations include power cables, control cables, communication cables, instrumentation cables, and heat-compensated cables. The operating conditions and functional characteristics of these various cables vary. Specific requirements for Class 1E cables related to cable types are specified in subsequent product standards. This standard only stipulates the general requirements and basic quality assessment requirements for Class 1E cables used in nuclear power stations.
