GB/T 16935.3-2025 Insulation coordination for equipment within low-voltage systems—Part 3:Use of coating,potting or moulding for protection against pollution

Scope

This document applies to components protected against contamination by coatings, tank sealing, and molding, for which the electrical clearance and creepage distance can be less than those specified in IEC 60664-1.
This document specifies the requirements and test procedures for two types of protection:
— Type 1 protection for improving the microenvironment of the protected components;
— Type 2 protection, similar to solid insulation.
This document also applies to various types of protected printed circuit boards, including the inner surfaces of multilayer printed circuit boards, substrates, and similar protected components. For multilayer printed circuit boards, the relevant requirements for the spacing of an inner layer are included in the solid insulation requirements of IEC 60664-1.
Note: For example, substrates can be made using hybrid integrated circuits and thick-film technology.
This document only addresses permanent protection and is not applicable to components that can be mechanically adjusted and repaired.
The principles of this document apply to functional insulation, basic insulation, additional insulation, and reinforced insulation.
