本文件适用于利用涂层、罐封和模压进行防污保护的组件，该类组件的电气间隙和爬电距离能小于IEC 60664-1中规定的电气间隙和爬电距离。
本文件规定了两种保护型式的要求和试验程序：
——用于改善被保护组件的微观环境的1型保护；
——类似于固体绝缘的2型保护。
本文件也适用于各种类型的被保护印制板，包括多层印制板的内层表面、基板和类似的被保护组件。对于多层印制板，通过一个内层的间距的相关要求包含在IEC 60664-1的固体绝缘要求中。
注：例如基板能用混合集成电路和厚膜技术制成。
