Scope

This document specifies the GRAFCET specification language for functionally describing the behavior of the sequential part of a control system.
This document also specifies the symbols, rules, and explanations for the graphical representation of this language.
This document is applicable to automated production systems in industrial applications, but does not exclude any specific application fields.
The development methodology for using the GRAFCET specification language is not within the scope of this document. For example, IEC 61131-3 (which specifies a set of programming languages for programmable controllers) defines a method called "SFC language", which specifies a set of programming languages for programmable controllers.
