GB/T 15822.1-2024 Non-destructive testing—Magnetic particle testing—Part 1:General principles
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the general principles for magnetic particle inspection of ferromagnetic materials. Magnetic particle inspection is mainly used to detect surface discontinuities, especially cracks. Magnetic particle inspection can also detect near-surface discontinuities, but its sensitivity rapidly decreases with increasing depth.
This document specifies the surface preparation of the inspected workpieces, the magnetization techniques, the requirements and application of the detection medium, and the recording and interpretation of the detection results. This document does not address acceptance criteria. For additional requirements for magnetic particle inspection of special workpieces, they are specified in the product standards.
This document is not applicable to the residual magnetism method.
