Scope

This standard specifies the rolling resistance limit values and grades for automotive tires, as well as the related terms and definitions, rolling resistance coefficient limit values and grade requirements, and testing methods.
This standard applies to new passenger car radial tires, new miniature and light-duty vehicle radial tires, and new heavy-duty vehicle radial tires. However, it does not include the following: tires with a nominal rim diameter of no more than 10 inches and tires with a nominal rim diameter of no less than 25 inches; T-type spare tires for temporary use only; ST-metric tires for highway trailers, high-passability radial tires for light-duty vehicles; heavy-duty vehicle tires with a speed capacity of 80 km/h or less; racing tires, studded tires, and specialized off-road tires.
