Scope

This document specifies the eddy current testing technology, which is mainly used to detect surface openings and near-surface plane-type discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials (welds, heat-affected zones, and base metals). If required by design specifications, this document can also be used for the detection of non-ferromagnetic materials. This document is applicable to onshore or offshore welds, whether coated or uncoated. Eddy current testing can be carried out on all accessible welding surfaces in various forms. Unless otherwise specified in the provisions of this document, the general principles stipulated in ISO 15549 apply to this document.
