Scope
This standard specifies the ordering information and general requirements for carbon steel and alloy steel forgings (hereinafter referred to as "forgings") used in reduction gears, as well as their materials, manufacturing, chemical composition, mechanical properties, quality certificates, product marking, and rejection. This standard applies to weldable carbon steel and alloy steel forgings used in reduction gears, which have undergone normalizing and tempering or quenching and tempering treatments.
