Scope
This standard applies to the horizontal joints between load-bearing walls and concrete floors, which can transfer the bending moment of the floor to the wall. The wall may be an interior or exterior wall, supporting the floor on one or both sides.
These walls can be made of small or medium-sized masonry units (stone, solid, porous or hollow bricks, solid or hollow concrete or lightweight concrete blocks), or large precast elements (large panels).
This standard can be used to assess the impact of the joints on the following factors: the vertical load N transmitted from the upper wall to the center of the wall, the eccentricity e of the load, the vertical load T transmitted from the floor, and the bending moment M (see Figure 1).
