Scope

This standard specifies the method of measuring the color of paper and cardboard using the matte reflection method to eliminate gloss. This standard is not applicable to paper and cardboard that have been treated with fluorescent dyes or pigment dyes. When the amount of ultraviolet radiation emitted by the instrument's light source onto the sample is adjusted to be consistent with the fluorescent reference standard provided by an authorized laboratory under the CIE illuminant C conditions as specified in ISO 2470, this standard can be used to measure the color of paper and cardboard containing fluorescent whitening agents.
