Scope

This standard specifies a method for determining the flash point of paints, varnishes, paint base materials, solvents, petroleum, or related products. This standard is not suitable for determining the flash point of water-based coatings. The determination of water-based coatings can be carried out using the method of ISO 3679. The temperature range applicable to this standard varies depending on the instrument used, ranging from -30℃ to 110℃ (see Table 1). The results obtained from mixed solvents containing halogenated hydrocarbons should be noted, as these mixed solvents may yield irregular results.
