Scope

This standard specifies a method for testing the ability of flammable vapors emitted by paints (including water-based coatings), varnishes, paint bases, adhesives, petroleum and its related products to be ignited by a test flame within the temperature range of -30°C to 300°C under standard test conditions. When used with a flash point detector (see A.1.6), this standard is also suitable for the flash and non-flash ignition tests of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs).
