SH/T 0703-2001 Standard test method for measuring apparent viscosity at bigh-temperature and high-shear rate by multicell capillary viscometer
Basic Information
Scope
1.1 This standard specifies the method of determining the high-temperature high-shear (HTHS) apparent viscosity of engine oil using a multiple capillary viscometer equipped with pressure-measuring, temperature-measuring, and timing devices under the conditions of 150°C and an apparent shear rate of 1.4×10^6 s^−1 on the pipe wall. 1.2 The shear rate specified in this standard can reduce the differences between this method and other methods of determining the high-temperature high-shear apparent viscosity. This standard directly measures the viscosity by using a correction curve established with Newtonian oils whose apparent viscosity is 2 mPa·s to 5 mPa·s at 150°C. 1.3 This standard may involve certain hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard intentionally provides recommendations on all related safety issues. Before using this standard, it is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and protective measures and determine suitable management systems.
