Scope

This standard specifies two test methods for the linear density of chemical fibers: the weighing method of the middle section of the fiber bundle (Method A) and the single fiber vibration instrument method (Method B). This standard is applicable to the linear density determination of chemical short fibers such as polyester (polyester), polyamide (nylon), polyacrylonitrile (acrylic fiber), polypropylene (polypropylene), polyvinyl acetate (viscose), and regenerated cellulose fibers. Fiber bundles can be used as reference. For both methods, a certain tension should be applied to the fibers during the test to make them straighten and eliminate curling, ensuring the validity of the test results. The choice of Method A and Method B should be determined by mutual consultation based on specific conditions.
