Scope

This standard specifies the rules for establishing and controlling atomic emission spectrochemical analysis curves. This rule applies to spark atomic emission spectroscopy, but not to X-ray emission spectroscopy. Although the generation of analysis curves and daily control operations are related, they are still considered independent of each other. Since the multivariate linear regression used to generate analysis curves is readily available through computer programs, this standard no longer describes this process in detail. However, it does provide some recommended guidelines for evaluating the generated equations. This standard does not address safety issues. If safety concerns arise, it is the responsibility of the user to establish appropriate safety and health procedures to limit the scope of its application before using this standard.
