Scope

This document specifies the test methods and requirements for routine tests, sampling tests, type tests, pre-appraisal tests, extended pre-appraisal tests, and post-installation electrical tests of large-length cross-linked polyethylene insulated AC submarine cables and accessories with a rated voltage of 500 kV (Um = 550 kV).
This document is applicable to 500 kV cross-linked polyethylene insulated AC submarine cables (including fiber optic cables) and accessories such as factory joints (soft joints), repair joints, transition joints between submarine cables and land cables, and terminals.
This document is not applicable to special applications such as the testing of dynamic cables on offshore floating platforms.
