Scope

This document describes the test methods for the separation of the upper from the outsole, the separation between the sole layers, and the tearing and damage of the upper or sole. This document also specifies the aging conditions for production control.
This document is applicable to all footwear (adhesive footwear, vulcanized footwear, injection-molded footwear, etc.) that require the determination of the bonding strength of the sole and upper and are full-cushioned (closed-toe shoes).
Note 1: In all cases, the bonding strength is measured at the edge closest to the bonding site.
Note 2: Footwear assembled with nails (such as with nails or screws) or sewn footwear do not need to be tested.
