Scope

This standard includes the physical performance requirements for disposable enteral nutrition catheters with positioning balloons. Enteral nutrition catheters with positioning balloons are used to provide nutrition and/or medication to patients through their natural body cavities (nasally or orally) or through surgically created fistulas. The product can be made from various materials (such as silicone rubber, polyurethane polymers, and combinations of these materials) in different specifications. It can be supplied in a non-sterile form, sterilized before use, or supplied in a sterile form for single use only.
This standard does not address the biological requirements, chemical requirements, packaging, and labeling of enteral nutrition catheters with positioning balloons.
