Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements, markings, and manufacturer-provided information for heat protection gloves (hereinafter referred to as "gloves"), and describes the testing methods.
This document applies to gloves that protect against one or more forms of heat damage, including flame exposure, contact heat, convective heat, radiant heat, and exposure to small splashes of molten metal or large splashes of molten metal.
This document does not apply to gloves used in firefighting and welding operations.
Note: The tests described in this document provide performance levels rather than protection levels.
