Scope
This standard specifies the range, normative reference documents, terms and definitions, symbols and explanations, principles, specimens, testing equipment, testing conditions, performance determination, and test reports for determining the Young's modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson's ratio of metal materials using static methods, and the dynamic Young's modulus, dynamic shear modulus, and dynamic Poisson's ratio of metal materials using dynamic methods. The static method of this standard is applicable to determining the Young's modulus, shear modulus, and Poisson's ratio of metal materials in their elastic state at room temperature; the dynamic method is applicable to measuring the dynamic Young's modulus, dynamic shear modulus, and dynamic Poisson's ratio of uniform elastic materials between -196°C and 1200°C.
