Scope

This part of GB/T 5158 specifies the general principles for determining the oxygen content in metal powders by reduction method, and provides suggestions for correctly interpreting the obtained results.
The test methods in this part are generally applicable to all metals, alloys, hard alloys, and their powder mixtures. Under the test conditions, the powder should not contain volatile substances, and lubricants or organic binders should be removed.
However, some limitations depend on the nature of the metal being analyzed, and these limitations are described in Chapter 4.
