GB/T 17376-2008 Animal and vegetable fats and oils—Preparation of methyl esters of fatty acids

Scope

This standard specifies the preparation method of methyl esters of fatty acids.
This standard includes methods for preparing methyl esters of fatty acids from animal and plant oils, fatty acids, and fatty acid salts. It stipulates the following three methyl esterification methods:
a) Boron trifluoride method (see Chapter 3);
b) Tri-methyl sulfide hydroxide method (see Chapter 4);
c) Ester exchange method (see Chapter 5).
This standard is applicable to various analytical processes requiring methyl ester derivatives, such as gas chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, and infrared spectroscopy.
