Basic Information
Scope
This section sets out the requirements for the protection against stray current in DC traction systems.
After decades of practice, no obvious corrosive effects of ground current in AC traction systems have been found, and the investigation and research on them are not perfect, so this section only deals with the stray current problem in DC traction systems.
This section applies to all newly built DC electrified railways, and its principles can also be applied to existing railways that need to consider the influence of stray current.
Its scope of application includes:
——Railways;
——Guided transport systems, such as: trams, elevated railways and subways, mountain railways, trolleybus systems and maglev systems;
——Material transport systems.
