Scope

This standard defines the basic requirements for the investigation of interstitial organisms in marine sediments, and establishes general provisions and methods for the investigation of sediments, suspended matter, foraminifera, bivalves, radiolaria, sedimentary diatoms, coccolithophores, sedimentary spores, benthic viruses, benthic microorganisms (including bacteria, archaea, and fungi), benthic microalgae, benthic protozoa, and small benthic metazoans. This standard is applicable to marine investigations in different benthic habitats, including coastal zones, shallow seas, and deep seas.
