Scope

This standard applies to cathode ray tubes (CRTs) and CRT assemblies (hereinafter referred to as "CRTs") that are used as components of electrical devices and adopt a holistic explosion-proof method.
These requirements apply to CRTs used in electrical or electronic measurement and testing equipment, information technology equipment, medical equipment, telephone equipment, television equipment, and other similar electrical devices.
This standard is only applicable to CRTs whose panels form part of the casing of electrical devices. The mentioned test methods are not applicable to CRTs protected by independent safety screens.
The CRTs covered by this standard refer to CRTs installed in casings to prevent the rear of the CRTs from being damaged by mechanical or other means under normal use conditions, and to prevent users from being injured by debris flying out of the rear of the CRTs in the event of an explosion.
The requirements contained in this standard are used for CRTs with a diagonal size of greater than or equal to 76 mm and an overall explosion-proof structure, which provide protection against the danger of debris flying out of the front of the panel. This standard is not used for protection against debris flying out in other directions.
Chapters 8 (Large-sized CRTs), 9 (Small-sized CRTs), and 10 (CRTs with explosion-proof membranes) of this standard provide procedures and judgment criteria for CRT conformity testing, and Chapter 3 provides definitions of large-sized and small-sized CRTs.
