Scope

This document specifies the safety and performance requirements for wire feed units used in industrial and professional arc welding and similar processes. This document applies to standalone (separate from welding equipment) and integrated (installed in a single housing or together with other welding equipment in a separate housing) wire feed units or wire feed control units. Wire feed units can be used with manual welding torches or mechanically guided welding torches. This document does not apply to welding torches with wire feed spools as specified in IEC 609747.
