Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 30789 specifies a method for assessing the degree of chalking, which is particularly suitable for white or other colored paint coatings on rough surfaces and multi-coat systems (for example, with a roughness greater than that specified in paragraph 4 of the roughness comparison specimen G in ISO 85031). The method specified in this part can also be used to assess the degree of chalking on smooth surfaces and multi-coat systems, but the method specified in ISO 46286 is more suitable. This test method is applicable to coatings and multi-coat systems on mineral substrates, such as fiber cement boards, bricks, concrete, and base mortar. The test is not affected by the surface structure. Experienced operators can use this method effectively for laboratory and on-site assessments.
