GB/T 18802.31-2021 Low-voltage surge protective devices—Part 31:Surge protective devices connected to photovoltaic installations—Requirements and test methods
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB/T 18802 is applicable to surge protectors (SPDs) used to protect against the indirect and direct effects of lightning or other transient overvoltages. These SPDs will be connected to the DC side of photovoltaic systems with a rated voltage not exceeding 1,500 V.
These SPDs contain at least one non-linear component used to limit voltage and discharge surge currents. This part specifies the performance characteristics, safety requirements, standard test methods, and rated values of these devices.
SPDs that comply with this part are only designed for installation on the DC side of photovoltaic systems and the DC side of inverters.
SPDs used in energy storage photovoltaic systems (such as batteries and capacitor banks) are not included in this part.
SPDs with special series impedances between separate input and output terminals (so-called two-port SPDs in IEC 61643-11:2011) are not currently included in this part.
SPDs that comply with this part are fixed SPDs with permanent connections that can only be connected and disconnected using tools. This part does not apply to portable SPDs.
Note 1: For SPDs applied to photovoltaic systems, special series impedances between input and output terminals are usually not included for power efficiency considerations.
Note 2: Any power systems or grids mentioned in this part refer to the DC side of photovoltaic systems.
