Scope

These rules apply to gas cylinders (including imported gas cylinders) that comply with the scope of application of the "Regulations on Safety Supervision of Special Equipment" and are used within the territory of the People's Republic of China. Newly developed gas cylinders or those manufactured by a manufacturer for the first time shall undergo type testing in accordance with the requirements of these rules. These rules do not apply to type testing of gas cylinder accessories such as valves and safety relief devices. However, when relevant standards require type testing of gas cylinders, those that need to be equipped with valves and safety relief devices and other gas cylinder accessories shall comply with the requirements of relevant standards. In any of the following circumstances, type testing shall be conducted again: (1) The original design is changed and is deemed a new design in accordance with the "Rules on Appraisal of Gas Cylinder Design Documents"; (2) The same type of gas cylinders manufactured by the same manufacturing process are discontinued for 6 months and then resumed.
