Scope

This standard specifies the test method for measuring the fracture toughness of fine ceramic materials at room temperature using the pre-cracked beam method. This standard is applicable to homogeneous bulk ceramics and ceramic composites, but it is not applicable to ceramic composites containing continuous fiber reinforcement.
