Scope
This part applies to avalanche breakdown diodes (ABD) of surge protection device components (SPDC). The designed and manufactured surge protectors are connected to low-voltage distribution systems, transmission systems, and communication network systems. The test specifications in this part apply to a single two-terminal ABD. Multiple ABDs can be encapsulated in a single housing as a single diode component. Each diode in this component can be tested according to this part. This part includes a series of test methods for the electrical performance of ABDs. The test methods in this part are used to verify or measure the rated values and characteristic values of ABDs in a specific encapsulation design.
