Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the content of combined water in iron ore by the Karl Fischer solution titration method.
This method is suitable for natural iron ore, iron concentrate, and pellets, including sintered products, with a combined water content ranging from 0.05% to 10% (by mass fraction).
Note: The term "combined water" refers only to the amount of water in iron ore that can be fully released when heated at a temperature of 950 °C after the removal of hygroscopic water.
