Scope

This document describes the methods for determining the carbon content in ferromanganese, manganese-silicon alloys, manganese nitrides, and metallic manganese using infrared absorption, gas volume, weight, and Coulomb methods. This document is applicable to the determination of carbon content in ferromanganese, manganese-silicon alloys, manganese nitrides, and metallic manganese. The measurement range (mass fraction): Method I is 0.010% to 10.00%; Method II is 0.40% to 5.00%, not applicable to the determination of carbon content in manganese nitrides and metallic manganese; Method III is 4.00% to 8.00%, applicable to the determination of carbon content in high-carbon ferromanganese; Method IV is 0.010% to 0.40%, only applicable to the determination of carbon content in metallic manganese.
