Scope

This document specifies the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) requirements for speed-regulated electric drive systems and machine tools (MTs). Electrical drive systems (PDS) include AC or DC motor drives with electronic converters. These EMC requirements are specified for AC and DC electrical drive systems and machine tools with an input and/or output voltage (line voltage) root mean square value of up to 35 kV. This document applies to all power levels of equipment.
As a product electromagnetic compatibility standard, this document can be used to evaluate electrical drive systems and machine tools. It can also be used to evaluate complete drive modules or basic drive modules.
Note 1: Basic drive modules and complete drive modules are part of electrical drive systems and are typically sold separately.
Traction products and electric vehicles, as well as "Group 2 equipment" defined in CISPR 11:2024, are not included in this document.
Note 2: Examples of Group 2 equipment include: --- - Welding equipment (arc welding, resistance welding, etc.) - Discharge machining equipment. This document does not specify requirements for motors that convert electrical energy into mechanical energy in electrical drive systems. The requirements for rotating motors are already covered in the IEC 60034 series. In this document, the term "motor" is used to describe electric motors, including rotary motors or linear motors, as well as motors with different power transmission directions.
This document applies to basic drive modules, complete drive modules, electrical drive systems, and machine tools with or without radio functionality. However, this document does not specify any requirements for radio transmission and reception.
Note 3: CISPR 11:2024 specifies requirements for radio transmission and reception, which also apply to products within the scope of this document.
