Scope
This part of GB/T 18779 specifies the concepts and terminology for evaluating the uncertainty of measurement results. In the inspection and testing of GPS-indicator-based measuring instruments, the measurement results are obtained through the instruments in accordance with the testing agreements reached between institutions.
Note: The uncertainty of measurement results and the measurement uncertainty caused by indicator-based measuring instruments when measuring workpieces are different. This part of GB/T 18779 only addresses the former. For the latter, refer to JJF 1059.1 and GB/T 18779.2.
When the inspection of indicator-based measuring instruments includes multiple measurement results, some are related to the instrument's displayed value, while others are related to other metrological characteristics. This part of GB/T 18779 only addresses the former.
This part specifies how to evaluate the uncertainty of measurement results after the testing agreement is determined, and does not address the applicability of the testing agreement.
This part applies to all specifications involving indicator-based measuring instruments in the GPS general standard (see GB/T 20308).
