Scope

This document specifies the composition, application scenarios, functional and performance requirements, system design, basic requirements for primary equipment, basic requirements for control and protection systems, and testing and operation and maintenance requirements of unified power flow controllers.
This document is applicable to unified power flow controllers based on modular multilevel converters in power grids with voltage levels of 220 kV to 500 kV. Unified power flow controllers using other converter topologies and applied to other voltage levels may be implemented with reference to this document.
