Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies the selection, evaluation, and use requirements for carbon steel and low-alloy steel materials in environments containing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in oil and gas extraction and natural gas processing plants, as well as the use requirements for cast iron.
This document applies to the selection, evaluation, and use of crack-resistant materials for equipment designed and manufactured according to the load-control design method.
Note: Cracking includes sulfide stress cracking (SSC), stress-oriented hydrogen-induced cracking (SOHIC), soft zone cracking (SZC), hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), and stepwise cracking (SWC). It does not include material loss caused by uniform corrosion, localized corrosion, or fatigue corrosion.
