Scope

This document defines the terms and definitions of child restraint systems (hereinafter referred to as "child restraint systems", CRS) for motor vehicles, stipulates general requirements, performance requirements, test reports, and requirements for marking and instructional guidance documents, and describes the corresponding test methods.
This document applies to the following types of child restraint systems suitable for installation in motor vehicles:
a) Integrated universal ISOFIX child restraint systems (i-Size child restraint systems);
b) Integrated model-specific ISOFIX child restraint systems;
c) Integrated universal seatbelt-fixed child restraint systems;
d) Integrated model-specific seatbelt-fixed child restraint systems;
e) Non-integrated back-equipped universal child restraint systems (i-Size booster seats);
f) Non-integrated back-equipped model-specific child restraint systems (model-specific booster seats);
g) Non-integrated back-free universal child restraint systems (universal booster pads);
h) Non-integrated back-free model-specific child restraint systems (model-specific booster pads).
