GB/T 20417.1-2025 Plastics—Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS) moulding and extrusion materials—Part 1:Designation system and basis for specifications
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies a naming system for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) thermoplastic materials, which serves as the basis for classification. Different types of ABS plastic materials are distinguished based on the following characteristic performance values, as well as their composition, recommended applications and/or processing methods, key properties, additives, colorants, fillers, and reinforcing materials: - a) Vicat softening temperature; - b) melt mass flow rate; - c) notched impact strength of a simple beam; - d) tensile modulus of elasticity. This document applies to ABS materials primarily composed of styrene (and/or substituted styrene) and acrylonitrile copolymers as the continuous phase, with polybutadiene and other components specified in the text as the dispersed phase. This document applies to materials typically in powder, granular, or crushed form, either unmodified or modified with colorants, additives, fillers, etc. This document does not apply to the following materials: - Those with a notched impact strength of less than 3 kJ/m2; - Those with a butadiene mass fraction of less than 50% in the dispersed phase; - Those with an acrylonitrile mass fraction of less than 15% in the continuous phase. This document does not imply that materials with the same naming must have the same performance. This document does not provide the engineering data, performance data, or process parameters required to describe the special applications and/or processing methods of the materials. When necessary, these additional properties should be determined using the test methods specified in GB/T 20417.2.
