Scope

This part of GB/T 18340 specifies the technical performance indicators of mass spectrometers, sample preparation, methods of mass spectrometry analysis, and precision in the analysis of stable carbon isotope composition of organic matter.
This part is applicable to the analysis of stable carbon isotope composition of various sedimentary organic matters, such as crude oil and its various fractions, kerogen, coal, and rock asphalt; it is not applicable to the analysis of stable carbon isotope composition of organic samples containing carbonate minerals. If you want to analyze these samples, you need to remove the carbonate minerals first.
