Scope

This document specifies the method for determining the quantitative performance data of skimmers in the recovery of medium-low viscosity oils with a viscosity not exceeding 50,000 cP, so that end users can objectively evaluate, compare, and assess the design and performance of different types of skimmers. The method specified in this document is applicable to tests in water tanks and requires controlling the characteristics of oil and oil slicks. This document is applicable to all types of skimmers with equipment dimensions within the range of test tanks. The test procedures specified in this document provide comprehensive test results for the tested devices under specified control conditions, and can be applied to one or more medium-low viscosity oils. When using these test results to predict the performance of skimmers under field conditions, attention should be paid to the required details. For dedicated/embedded systems, the test procedures specified in this document are only applicable to skimmer equipment that meets the test conditions, and are not applicable to the entire skimmer system.
