Scope

This document specifies a method for quantitatively determining the performance data of oil skimmers when recovering high-viscosity oils with a viscosity greater than 50,000 cP, so that end users can objectively judge, compare, and evaluate the design and performance of different types of oil skimmers. The method specified in this document is applicable to tests conducted in water tanks and requires controlling the characteristics of oil and oil slicks. This document is applicable to all types of oil skimmers with equipment dimensions within the range of the test water tank. The test procedures specified in this document provide comprehensive test results for the tested device under specified control conditions, and can be applied to one or more high-viscosity oils. When using these test results to predict the performance of oil skimmers under field conditions, attention should be paid to the required details. For dedicated/embedded systems, the test procedures specified in this document are only applicable to oil skimming equipment that meets the test conditions, and are not applicable to the entire oil skimming system.
