Scope

This standard specifies the implementation methods for the design of the direct current power system in nuclear power plants. This standard applies to the design of lead-acid batteries, stationary charging devices, and direct current distribution equipment, including the selection of the number and types of equipment; the determination of equipment ratings; interconnections; and the selection of instrumentation, control, and protection systems. This standard does not apply to the AC power supply for charging devices or to loads supplied by the DC system (unless they affect the design of the DC system), nor does it apply to dedicated starting battery systems for locomotives.
