Scope

This document specifies the following for nuclear power plants: a) The main design principles and design measures for safety-grade power systems, which enable these systems to meet their functional requirements under operating conditions caused by applicable design basis events; b) The testing and monitoring requirements for safety-grade power systems; c) The guidelines for shared safety-grade power systems in multi-unit nuclear power plants; d) The documentation requirements for safety-grade power systems. This document applies to the safety-grade components of the following systems and equipment in single-unit and multi-unit nuclear power plants: -- AC power systems; -- DC power systems; -- Instrumentation and control (I&C) power systems. This document does not apply to priority power supplies, unit generators and their buses, generator circuit breakers, main (i.e., step-up) transformers, auxiliary (i.e., plant-internal) transformers, starting transformers, connection lines to nuclear power plant switch stations, switch stations, transmission lines, and transmission networks (see Figures 2 and 3).
