本文件规定了成人用和小儿用气管切开插管和接头的要求。
本文件适用于主要为需进行麻醉、人工通气或其他辅助呼吸的患者而设计的插管。
本文件适用于具有共同特性的专用气管切开插管，例如那些在机器端没有接头的适用于自主呼吸患者的气管切开插管，以及具有加强管壁或由金属制成的插管或带肩部的插管、锥形插管、具有用于抽吸或监测或输送药物或其他气体的插管。
注：气管切开插管的易燃性（例如电外科器械或激光与易燃性麻醉剂在富氧空气中使用）是众所周知的危险，这属于临床管理的范畴，不包括在本文件范围内。ISO/TR 11991给出了避免发生气道灼烧的指南。
